Re-roofing in Battersea

If you live in Battersea and want re-roofing, we can take the whole job off your hands, from measuring the house to handing over a finished room.

Covering Battersea

Battersea sits 3 miles south-west of London, with Chelsea 1 miles to the north-west and Fulham 2 miles to the west.

Homes in London

Much of London’s housing is Victorian and Edwardian terraces, which is why side return extensions, rear dormers and mansards are so common. Many streets are in conservation areas, and several boroughs use Article 4 directions that remove some permitted development rights.

What is re-roofing?

We erect scaffolding, strip the old covering, check and repair the timbers, then lay a breathable membrane, new battens and the new covering, with dry-fix ridge and verge systems. Fascias, soffits and guttering can be replaced at the same time.

  • Scaffolding and edge protection
  • New tiles or slates, ridge and verge
  • Fascias, soffits and guttering if required

How much should I budget for re-roofing?

Typical ranges for re-roofing. Ground conditions, access and specification move the final figure, which we fix in writing before work starts.

Re-roofingGuide price incl. VAT
Terraced house£6,000 to £10,000
Semi-detached house£8,000 to £15,000
Detached house£12,000 to £25,000

What approvals does re-roofing need in England?

Projects in England go through two separate checks. Planning (or confirmation that the work is permitted development) comes from the district, borough or unitary council, and building regulations approval comes from the council’s building control team or a registered building control approver. Where work touches a shared wall or digs near a neighbour’s foundations, the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 applies.

Replacing a roof covering like for like does not usually need planning permission in England. Conservation areas with Article 4 directions and listed buildings are the exceptions.

What should Battersea homeowners check first?

  • Heavier tiles than the original can overload old rafters.
  • Bats can roost in roofs; if signs are found, work pauses for advice.

What happens after I enquire?

  1. Send us the details. Give us a postcode, a rough idea of size and some photos, by phone, form or the guide price tool.
  2. Free site visit. We measure up, look at access, drains and the structure, and talk through options and budget.
  3. Design and fixed price. You get drawings and a written price for the agreed specification before anything is ordered.
  4. Build and hand over. Our teams build to the programme, building control inspects, and you get the completion paperwork at the end.
