Re-roofing in Birkenhead

Our re-roofing service covers Birkenhead and the rest of Merseyside. You get a fixed price in writing for the agreed specification, and one person co-ordinating the trades.

Covering Birkenhead

We work in Birkenhead (CH41, CH42) and the places around it, including Liverpool, Wallasey and Bebington.

Homes in the North West

Across the North West, Victorian terraces, inter-war semis and modern estates all feature, and brick or stone matching is chosen to suit each street.

What is re-roofing?

We erect scaffolding, strip the old covering, check and repair the timbers, then lay a breathable membrane, new battens and the new covering, with dry-fix ridge and verge systems. Fascias, soffits and guttering can be replaced at the same time.

  • Scaffolding and edge protection
  • New tiles or slates, ridge and verge
  • Fascias, soffits and guttering if required

How much should I budget for re-roofing?

What re-roofing typically cost. These are guide ranges; the written quote for your house replaces them.

Re-roofingGuide price incl. VAT
Terraced house£6,000 to £10,000
Semi-detached house£8,000 to £15,000
Detached house£12,000 to £25,000

Do you need permission for re-roofing in Birkenhead?

In England we deal with the council’s planning team for permission or a lawful development certificate, with building control (the council or a registered building control approver) for inspections, and with neighbours under the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 where it applies.

Replacing a roof covering like for like does not usually need planning permission in England. Conservation areas with Article 4 directions and listed buildings are the exceptions.

What can affect re-roofing?

  • Bats can roost in roofs; if signs are found, work pauses for advice.
  • Insulation upgrades at the same time can cut heat loss significantly.

What happens after I enquire?

  1. Tell us about the project. Call, use the guide price tool or send the form with a few photos and a postcode.
  2. Survey at your house. We look at the existing structure, services and access, and agree what the design needs to achieve.
  3. Price and paperwork. The design is priced line by line, and we submit the planning and building control applications.
  4. Build and hand over. Our teams build to the programme, building control inspects, and you get the completion paperwork at the end.
