Covering Southport

Southport sits 16 miles north of Liverpool, with Formby 7 miles to the south and Lytham St Annes 7 miles to the north.

Homes in the North West

The North West has long rows of Victorian terraced houses in its towns and cities, alongside inter-war semis and post-war estates, so rear extensions, dormer lofts and kitchen extensions are common projects.

What is included in re-roofing in Southport?

We erect scaffolding, strip the old covering, check and repair the timbers, then lay a breathable membrane, new battens and the new covering, with dry-fix ridge and verge systems. Fascias, soffits and guttering can be replaced at the same time.

How much should I budget for re-roofing?

Guide prices for re-roofing, including VAT where it applies. Your fixed price is confirmed in writing after the survey.

What approvals does re-roofing need in England?

Projects in England go through two separate checks. Planning (or confirmation that the work is permitted development) comes from the district, borough or unitary council, and building regulations approval comes from the council’s building control team or a registered building control approver. Where work touches a shared wall or digs near a neighbour’s foundations, the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 applies.

Replacing a roof covering like for like does not usually need planning permission in England.

What should Southport homeowners check first?

  • Neighbouring roofs on semis and terraces need careful junction details.
  • Bats can roost in roofs; if signs are found, work pauses for advice.

What happens after I enquire?

  1. Send us the details. Give us a postcode, a rough idea of size and some photos, by phone, form or the guide price tool.
  2. We visit and measure. A surveyor checks the house, the boundaries and the ground, and discusses what is realistic.
  3. Drawings, approvals, written quote. We prepare the design, apply for the approvals it needs, and give you a fixed price in writing.
  4. We build it. Work follows an agreed programme, with inspections at each stage and a final sign-off.
